Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has been honoured by her home city Swansea for raising high the Welsh flag internationally.
Receiving the honour in a video message which was screened at the Brangwyn Hall for the Lord Mayor’s award ceremony, the US based actress said she “truly loved” Swansea and would always call it her home.
Showing appreciation for the honour Catherine, who is also the spouse of American actor and producer Michael Douglas, disclosed: “There’s no place like home – and what a wonderful place to call home…I believe it’s not what I have done for Swansea, but what Swansea has done for me.”
The inaugural Lord Mayor’s Honours, the event at which Catherine Zeta-Jones was honoured has, in the past carried out fund-raising to support charities.
Other high profile individuals who were honoured at the event were: Swansea City coach Alan Curtis and Rugby Union former Wales international Geoff Wheel.
The ceremony wouldn’t have been complete without honouring the Swansea City FC for services to Swansea’s global reputation.
